The word Tung is an ancient Chinese term for heart. Tung oil is derived from the fruit of this deciduous tree. The fruit is dried and pressed and yields several hundred gallons per tree.
The first record of Tung Oil appears in the writings of Confucius. Even then, the Chinese recognized the amazing qualities of Tung Oil. Throughout their history, the Chinese have used Tung Oil to finish furniture, waterproof the masts and sails of their ships, and even to seal the Great Wall of China. Care of Infinity Tables is easy and simple. Apply pure tung oil on the cedar and rub in with a clean cloth. The feel of the wood after application is sensuous.
